Pet Services Your New Pet Will Need
Congratulations on becoming a pet owner! Your new pet will bless your home with excitement and happiness. But, your new puppy or kitten also need you to take care of their health so they can also be happy. Here are some of the pet services your new puppy or kitten will need in the first 12 months of care:
Veterinary Exam
First Visit
During our first veterinary exam, we will get to know you and your pet, understand their lifestyle, and complete a total body assessment to ensure your pet is healthy.
Vaccinations: Puppy and Kitten
Weeks 8, 12 and 16
Your new puppy or kitten’s immunity starts to wane after they are removed from their mother, so it’s important to get them vaccinated to keep them healthy for life. This helps protect their immune system from exposure to diseases.
Vaccinations: Adult Dogs and Cats
Every 1-3 Years
Pet vaccines help stimulate immunity to common infectious diseases by creating antibodies to help your pet’s immune system defend itself from the invading pathogen. Without vaccines, many dogs and cats may become sick from viral or bacterial pathogens.
Deworming: Dogs and Cats
Up to 6 Months
Internal parasites or worms can occur in dogs and cats, especially if they venture outdoors. These parasites are harmful and may be transmissible to other animals and humans. Our veterinarians can ensure your dogs and cats internal health is free from any parasites.
Spaying and Neutering
About 6 Months
Spaying and neutering can eliminate or reduce the risk of developing certain health and behavioural issues for your pets, as well as controlling the pet population. Schedule an appointment to have your dogs and cats spayed or neutered at about six months old.
Oral Care and Nutrition
Anytime
Your new pets may have specific dietary needs based on their age, lifestyle and current state of health. Our veterinarians can review your pet’s oral health and provide dental care and nutritional advice to keep them healthy.
